I started writing the first "Van Hemert System" books in 2019. I never thought it would become a series but here we are: currently at book nr. 5 and already planning for book 6.

A lot of topics which are discussed in these book have found their way into different videos on my YouTube channel but - with over 300 videos produced - it can be quite challenging to piece everything together. What good is a system without a systematic overview of its components?

That is where these book comes in: all topics are presented in a logical order and studying the books from beginning to end will undoubtedly generate the greatest chance of success.

The goal of my system is to provide the reader with a step-by-step guide to jazz guitar soloing and comping. There are no shortcuts when it comes to practice hours but I truly believe that studying the materials in these books can and will lead to a professional level.

All the tools in the books are tools I use every day during small gigs, big concerts, studio recordings, workshops and private lessons. The tools in the "Van Hemert System" are designed to spend as much time as possible with the guitar studying actual phrases, shapes and licks that will get you sounding good as fast as possible.

The videos accompanying the books are as important to the learning process as the text and music notation. The videos are recorded in my usual YouTube style and because of the free flowing, unscripted format there is additional relevant information to be found within them. Furthermore they are meant to clarify and inspire and should not be skipped.
